Michele Ann Kelly
Singer - Songwriter
DARA Records is proud to introduce its latest signing, the sensational Dublin singer-songwriter, Michele Ann Kelly. Michele's style has been described as a provocative blend of blues, soul, rock and pop, with a hint of folk and a dash of country, earning her comparisons with Shawn Colvin, kd Lang, Alison Krauss and Sarah McLachlan.
In recent years, Michele has collaborated with established songwriters like Liam Reilly, Keith Donald (Moving Hearts) Steve Wickham (The Waterboys), and Thom Moore. She has supported Mary Black, Paul Brady, Sharon Shannon, Brian Kennedy, Luka Bloom and Altan, and has performed with Don Baker, Mick Hanly, Leslie Dowdall, Mike Hanrahan and Marian Bradfield.
In recognition of her exciting talent, she was included in the Top 100 Unplugged Songs of the Year in Hot Press, and was a Hot Press’ First Cuts artist.
Highlights on the live front include performing at the Blues Autour de Zinc 08 Festival in France, solo shows at The Sugar Club and the Civic Theatre, and headlining at Manhattan's Ear Inn in New York. Michele’s self-released single "Time" was released in support of MarriagEquality in July, and went to number 2 on downloadmusic.ie. She was also MarriagEquality's Advocate of the Month in August 2009.
Her superb debut album, Songs That Saved My Life, will firmly establish her as one of the most exciting artists to come out of Ireland in recent years. It will be released on October 2nd, through DARA Records, the Dolphin Music label that is also home to artists such as Jack L, Frances Black, Phil Coulter and Dolores Keane. Michele will then embark on a full nationwide tour later in the year.
